HOW BREAST CANCER KENYA IS CREATING AWARENESS THROUGH FASHION/FASHION FOR CANCER 2019
Cancer has been known as one of the most painful and high-cost illness, also a traumatic experience both to the infected and affected. This unfortunate experience leaves cancer survivors with hair loss due to chemotherapy, societal stigma and low self-esteem.
This is where Fashion for cancer has come in to create awareness through beauty, and showing that losing their hair is a symbol of new beginning, strength and an honour to keep fighting and living a normal life. Going back to African roots short hair is beautiful and has become fashionable in the modern-day world.
Short hair or no hair is not only beautiful but also a symbol for neatness and simplicity.
Fashion for cancer also comes in to remind the cancer patients that short hair is a sign of beauty and also to support cancer survivors on their journey to recovery by raising funds to facilitate care kits to both patients and survivors. Fashion for cancer seeks to play a role in reminding them that we care for every step of the way.
Care kits include hats, unscented wipes, water bottles eyemasks, earplugs, silk pillows, gentle skin moisturisers, soaps etc.
Fashion For cancer event has taken a great step to engage the beauty and fashion industry for this noble and most important course.
All models will be expected to
showcase their finest dinnerware on the red carpet runway. Each model will become an
ambassador in their respective spaces by organizing special forums for cancer awareness among
the youth. Their specific mandate is to share more information about breast cancer and be the
leading champions in advocating for the necessary measures for early detection through early
screening.
All the models will be taken through a capacity building programme that will involve training on;
cancer causes, treatment and management, the art of mobilizing funds and people, skills on caregivers,
public speaking and communication skills.
Fashion for Cancer welcomes and is committed to partnerships from all interested parties. This
will play a bigger role in meeting the goals and objectives of the project.
We must win the battle against Cancer!!!...
